11th June, 2018 - Courtney Goodridge

Courtney started his academic career at Sheffield Hallam University where he graduated in 2017 with a degree in Psychology. He is currently studying for an MSc in Brain Imaging and Cognitive Neuroscience at The University of Birmingham. This course has provided him with the tools and resources to become well versed in various brain imaging techniques. This means not only understanding how to implement the methodology and analyse the data they provide, but also how they can be applied to solve real world issues. Overall, his broad academic interest is understanding the neural underpinnings of human behaviour using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and electroencephalography (EEG).

Presently, Courtney is using EEG to research how alpha brain oscillations aid multisensory processing. Throughout his masters, he has also partaken in a research placement utilising fMRI to investigate neural dysfunction in mental health populations.

Recently, he has received an offer for a PhD studentship at The University of Leeds in neuroscience where he will be able to continue his academic training using brain imaging techniques.
